Who We Are

North Eastern Youth for Development (NEYD-KENYA) is a voluntary youth organization that was formed by elites in North Eastern Province of Kenya in 1997 and registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Heritage and Sports (Department of Social Services – then Garissa District) in 1998 as youth group.

From 2012 NEYD-KENYA is registered as Non-governmental organization with the NGO Coordination Board of Kenya. It is operating in five counties in Kenya; Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Isiolo and Tana River Counties.

To be the organization of choice in promoting social and economic development services for the youth in northern region of Kenya.

To contribute in the provision and promotion of quality, accessible and culturally appropriate health, education and livelihood support services for the youth through creating an enabling environment for relevant institutions, individuals and communities.

The goal of the organization is to contribute in rising a generation which will contribute positively to their society and community.

  1. To uplift the standard of education in the region.
  2. To improve security and promote peaceful co-existence among the people of different tribes, religions through partnerships with other stakeholders and arms of government.
  3. To help the youth engage in gainful occupation.
  4. To create better understanding of issues affecting the youth and community at large.
  5. To reduce gender disparities in our schools by focusing on girl child education
  6. To organize Da’wah program in school and tertiary institutions
  7. To create health awareness on HIV/AIDS/FGM/Drug abuse
  1. Founded an orphans children’s’ center in Garissa county
  2. Humanitarian aid activities for refugees and host communities
  3. Town Cleaning and tree planting
  4. Continuous guidance and counseling program in the local secondary schools and colleges
  5. Participated in Bomas constitution review process and presented issues affecting the youth.
  6. Participated in the WAMY 9th, 11th and 12th International Youth conference in Riyadh, Cairo and Indonesia respectively.
  7. Participated in International youth conference in Istanbul, Turkey.
  8. Conducted annual workshops on drug abuse, education, health, poverty eradication, HIV/AIDS.
  9. Conducted annual iftar and udhiya programmes.
  1. Establish model integrated primary and secondary schools for boys and girls in Garissa county
  2. Establish a modern health facility in Garissa county
  3. Strengthen IGA for the organization to enhance the sustainability of its programs
  4. Establish university in Garissa
  5. Establish modern sport and recreation facility

Limited Funds: difficulty in finding sufficient, appropriate and sustainable funding for our activities.
